Parks, Playgrounds and Trails
Outdoor recreational amenities including playgrounds, equipment, recreational facilities, and ballfields, tennis courts are still closed across the province, for this reason they remain closed in the Township of Madawaska Valley.
Trails and parks may be utilized to walk through and enjoyed as long as social distancing is being followed.
Boat Launches
Boat launches remain open.
Waste Sites
The Waste Site hours remain the same. Please make every attempt to pre-tag your garbage bags PRIOR to depositing at the waste site and transfer stations to reduce the exchange of cash. Due to COVID-19 the Bark Lake Mall is closed until further notice.
BAG TAGS CAN BE PURCHASED at the following locations:
• Barry's Bay Esso & C-Store
• Barry's Bay Shell
• Barry's Bay Ultramar
• Herron's Store (Barry's Bay)
• CO Country Market (Combermere)
Brush Disposal
To avoid the potential of burning by residents and the fire ban now in effect, the Township has two brush drop off locations at:
Site 1: Yard #2 39844 Combermere Road. Signs are posted directing individuals where to drop off.
Site 2: Bark Lake waste disposal site. Located at 21956 Highway 60, 12 Km West of Barry's Bay. This location is accessible during regular hours.
Please note that these two sites will accept residential brush free of charge until June 30, 2020.
Railway Station – Visitors Centre – remains closed until further notice.
Farmer’s Market - remains closed until further notice.
Fire Ban
The Township of Madawaska Valley is located within the Province of Ontario’s Restricted Fire Zone. This ban restricts all fires, including fireworks in the Township. Fines for open air fire start at $615 and can be upwards of $25,000 plus 3 months in jail.
Garage Sales
Garage sales that are not operated as a business are not required to be closed under the emergency order closing non-essential businesses (O.Reg. 82/20). However, they should still comply with physical distancing guidelines and advice from public health officials.
Social gatherings of more than five people are prohibited by O.Reg. 52/20.
Municipal Office
The Municipal Office remains closed to the public; however staff is available to answer any of your questions during regular office hours Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 613-756-2747 or Madawaskavalley.ca

Council and Staff would like to thank the residents of the Township of Madawaska Valley for diligently adhering to “stay home, stay safe” and social distancing as requested during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Community has pulled together and managed their resourcefulness during the emergency order. As the Province of Ontario has started loosening restrictions they continue to ask that social distancing continues. If you are visiting our area, please respect this and respect our businesses as they have been greatly impacted, and continue to manage and offer their services in keeping with the Provincial orders. Non-essential businesses in the Township remain closed except those allowed to offer curbside pickup or delivery.
